The Surfacing Letter is an interactive artifact which attempts to build visually meaningful compositions from simple text input. The Surfacing Letter's main avenue of expression is through the glyph system; a procedural character builder which uses constructive style drawing to produce gossamer-like letters. The Surfacing Letter utilizes queries to various search engines to generate meaningful strings to produce the final image. It is the hope of the creator that, over time, people will adapt to the artifact and will be able to create their desired output solely through understanding the system
When confronted with a blank screen one merely needs to type in a word or phrase and press enter. The Surfacing Letter shall compose the resulting image. When the system is finished, the user may press any key to clear the screen and begin composing anew.
